Wayland Rogers

Wayland Rogers was an enormously talented composer of choral works, instrumental works and solo songs for voice and piano.  He was also a singer and conductor, and these influences shine in his many distinctive works which have been performed throughout the world. It was my pleasure to get to know Wayland over the previous five years before his death in September, 2020, and it was also my pleasure to be the pianist for the premiere of his song cycle for SATB quartet and piano, I-Thou, in 2018, now available on the CD recording Human to Human: New Works for Vocal Quartet, with Chicago’s Fourth Coast Ensemble. We who knew him and his music are lucky indeed, and I hope all musicians will share in the bounty of his beautiful works.
